Kathy Gehring
Kathy began making quilts when she took a basic hand quilting class at the Quilt Shop of Deland, Florida, in 2003.  Her first quilt was a sampler wall hanging made entirely by hand.  She spent a lot of time on that quilt and was very proud of the results. That's when she fell in love with quilting!

In 2007, she moved with her children from Florida to Ithaca, NY, her hometown, and joined the Tompkins County Quilter's Guild.  In October 2008, she volunteered to co-chair the guild's biennial quilt show, Traditions & Beyond 2009, held on October 3-4, 2009.  Kathy entered two of her quilts, Floating Martha Washington Star, and a Sampler Wall Hanging, into the show.  This was the first show Kathy has exhibited her work.

After learning how to hand quilt, she moved on to machine quilting and took several classes at the quilt shop in Florida.  Since then, she has made several quilts, including a queen size Lover's Knot quilt for a friend's wedding, and several lap sized quilts for friends and family.

I have always drawn or painted. In School I was always in the art room during my study halls and free time. I took every art related class that my school offered. I was in Art Club all through High School and was responsible for several Murals around the school...

I fell in Love with the camera my senior year when I was asked to take photos for the yearbook, I had a dark room to play with and I was given a Pentax K-1000 35mm camera...That launched another passion ..(I still have a Pentax K-1000 today!)
I started with computers after school when the home computer was invented Windows was the new cool thing!!! you could do anything, naturally no one realized back then how big the internet would turn out to be. I became fascinated with websites and how difficult they were...and I started Pignormil, which would later become Bashplanet... I have been doing websites and SEO since and it has been a wild ride! My other sites are http://www.bashplanet.com and http://www.artbash.com have a look when you get a chance!
